Answers to your questions

  • THAT INNER STUFF is a brand that offers solutions-focused brief therapy and psychological coaching by Samuel Happonen - a HedCo licensed psychological coach and a brief therapist in training.

    It’s a space where you get to explore YOUR inner stuff - your emotional landscape, your thoughts and experiences together with someone.

    Located in Helsinki, Finland but offers services with a remote connection to anyone interested.

  • I lean on solutions based brief therapy and psychological coaching, which means that my focus will be to help you find your inner resources and strengths, which we can then together utilize into a functioning strategy to aid you in your challenges.

    I also put emphasis on practicing skills to be mindfully present and to understand yourself, so that the change that you seek can be more effective. This way we also support you in learning important internal skills necessary to make desired changes. I believe that ultimately you are the expert on yourself.

  • It’s a very valid question to ask whether a solutions-focused approach and a shorter therapeutic relationship can lead to meaningful change — after all, the knots of the mind can sometimes be very complex.

    Even within brief therapy, significant change can occur by identifying mental pathways and practical tools that ease the client’s situation. In addition, clients are supported in applying mindful awareness, so that they can learn to build effective strategies for their well-being and address future challenges on their own.

    Although the solutions-focused approach doesn’t primarily emphasize exploring one’s past or analyzing the problem in depth, these can certainly be included in the process if the client finds them helpful. It can be important to understand a problem — even if it isn’t strictly necessary. In therapy or coaching, we work in the way that best serves the client.

  • It is important that you feel confident and comfortable working with me. You can book a 15 minute consultation for free to get a sense of what it’s like working together.

  • At the moment I do all meetings via a video call. This provides you the convenience of being able to enjoy therapy or coaching wherever you are in the world.

    I will provide you a link to the call which you can join easily join via your chosen device.

  • Meetings can be 45 minutes or 90 minutes. You choose.

  • If we decide to move onward with more sessions, we will determine together how many sessions would be appropriate to reach a place that you’re comfortable with. Ultimately, you decide. You are free to end meeting whenever you choose and in case you want more sessions, we will meet as many times as originally agreed, have a break and then you can decide if you want to agree on a new set of meetings.

  • Send me a message and we’ll find a time for a 15 minute consultation call or your first session if you so prefer.

    I will provide you with a link for the call and a document containing a therapy- / coaching agreement and some general information about my practices. Please read it through and sign it before our first session.

    In our first discussion we’ll talk about your chosen topic, and consider how many sessions you’d like to do together to work towards your goals.

  • I always try to accommodate a replacement session if possible.

    In case of the appointment not being cancelled, full payment will be charged.

    If the appointment is cancelled within 2 days, only half price will be charged.

    In the case of illness and a notification prior to a session, the client will not be charged.

  • Yes. I’ll keep encrypted notes during our sessions, but as our set of sessions come to an end, all notes related to our conversations will be deleted. You can have access to the notes I take in our sessions.

    Please note that under Finnish law, professionals may have a duty to inform the authorities if there is a serious and immediate threat to oneself, to others, or in cases of suspected child abuse.

  • Please note that I do not provide psychotherapy or medical services. Generally brief therapy and psychological coaching are not part of official health care in Finland. Instead, they are intended to support clients in enhancing their mental skills, resources, and overall well-being.

  • For the time being you can get brief therapy at a reduced cost for 35 € / 45 minutes and 70 € / 90 minutes.

    Psychological coaching comes at 80 € / 45 minutes and 160 € / 90 minutes.

    Do pay attention to any ongoing deals :)

    For the time being, for youth under 20, I offer my services for free.

  • Typically clients pay in bulk for the set of sessions they have agreed to after the sessions have concluded. I will provide an invoice with payment details. Payments by clients outside of Finland are done via PayPal.

  • Unfortunately I do not offer services that can be compensated by Kela or other insurance providers.
